Hi folks, I figure that it'd be easier if I just list my suggestions here:
The Legend of the River King (GameBoy) - A fishing RPG for the GameBoy. It was made by Natsume, but the series pre-dates the Harvest Moon series. The GB game was the series' first Western release.
Secret of Evermore (SNES) - A Western-developed JRPG by Squaresoft. It was quite unconventional in that well, it was a SNES Squaresoft RPG developed by a non-Japanese team.
Fear Effect (PSone) - One of the first popular cel-shaded games. Fear Effect is an action adventure game with lots of visual and thematic substance.
Mischief Makers (N64) - A quirky platforming game by Treasure. Looks like it has some weird mechanics.
