You can cancel the charge wind-up by doing a dash beforehand. And you get a death sonar by cancelling a charge into a sonar. Plus, you can sonar as many times as you want. So, if I want to go fast through an area with enemies, I end up with a weird mix of mashing the three buttons and trying to continue an awkward string of cancels. On the 3DS, it gets particularly gross because the pause button (X) is right above the sonar, charge, and dash buttons (Y, B, and A respectively). So, I'll often pause by mistake.
Granted, that is overly aggressive.
