Chapter 4 Missions

Interestingly, by the end of Chapter 3 it's possible to have explored just about the entire world map, including the subsectors like Manhattan. So if you're big on exploring just because (I am), you may have visited all of these locations already - though there were no quest hints at the time.

Clues from here on are pretty much just starting locations, so they're barely worth mentioning.


Task
- Find the ball that the Times Square cult uses to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Found the brown tubecar pass during my first fight in Sub Philadelphia.

Found an ancient book and a mauve bedistor while fighting random battles in Sub Philadelphia. It was at the southeast dead end, let me know if you get the same result.

I went to the cave in New Haven, took the sheet music, played it, and got the sandbag, Yu Wen totem, and Rah Kett totem.

Went to the New York Vault and used the Cannister from Poughkeepsie (12,2) to get a frozen corpus. Then I put the corpus in Dr. Entropy's booth.

Robin's Egg solution:
- Go to Yankee Stadium at Sector 3D (3, 2).
- Use the aluminum-eating microbes (you should've picked these up from your HQ locker at the very beginning of the game) on the safe.
- Take the strange ball.
- Go to Times Square at New York Downtown (3, 9).
- Give the strange ball to Dick Clark.
- Collect the ochre bedistor.

Stop Light solution:
- Go to Poughkeepsie (12, 2) and you'll pick up a computer print-out and a metal rod. You only need the metal rod.
- Go to the Vault at New York Uptown (15, 5).
- Use the metal rod in the 4th cannister.
- Open the 4th cannister.
- Take the frozen corpus.
- Go to Yankee Stadium at Sector 3D (3, 2).
- Open the booth.
- Put the frozen corpus in the booth.
- Close the booth.
- Put the bedistors in the colored sockets.
- Push the blue button.
- Open the booth.

Wee Wee solution:
- Go to New Haven (8, 3) to overhear Yale descendants scheming. (This might be optional, I haven't checked.)
- Enter the museum at New Haven (2, 9).
- Go east.
- Take the washing machine (and the banana and termite hatchery while you're at it).
- Go west.
- Put the washing machine on one of the spots.
- Stand on the other spot.
- Wait twice.
- You can take the washing machine again, but the game won't let you leave the museum with it.
- Go to the Princeton Library at Sector 1A (1, 9) and tell the coach what you heard.
- Collect the maroon bedistor.

Clover solution:
- Make sure you have the tiger's whistle from Mission Tree Bark (the Liberty Bell mission from chapter 3). If not, revisit the Liberty Bell Pavilion at Philadelphia (10, 6) and pick up the whistle.
- Go to the Superhero League of Flushing HQ at Sector 3C (7, 10).
- Use the whistle.
- Collect the ecru bedistor.

Mud solution:
- Go to Philadelphia (7, 1). The subway entrance is open after clearing Mission Corona (the Doc Entropy mission from chapter 3).
- Wander around the subways getting into fights. Eventually, a fight will yield an ancient book. (You'll also earn the mauve bedistor.)
- Go back to the Superhero League of Hoboken HQ at Sector 2C (13, 9).

I actually did find the Brown Tube pass right off the bat. Go figure.
And are you sure you found the book and bedistor in a random and not an encampment? I thought I found that purposefully, and not by accident. Could be wrong, though.

Note on the Termite Hatch: It might be possible to screw yourself over by hatching the termites prematurely. I remember trying it early to see if they stayed when hatched, but they fly away. So save before hatching them.

That's the thing, is it explicit when you find a permanently stationed enemy and when it's just a random battle? I know the three strong men on Sector 1B were permanent because I died to them a few times, for instance.

Yeah, when it's a fixed encounter it'll say "Party comes upon an encampment of X nasties!". For randoms you'll see "Party surprised" or "Party was surprised by" X nasties.
