--Structure--



Unless you get the optional M. bulb on floor 4S (phase 1), you will never backtrack from one phase to another. Once you hit phase 2, there's no need to hit phase 1, and once you hit phase 3, there's no need to hit phase 1 or phase 2. Each phase is separated by a falling path.

However, there is a required moment of backtracking within phase 1 and another moment of required backtracking within phase 2. There is an optional moment of backtracking within phase 3, and at phase 3, you can choose to backtrack to phase 1 for an optional M. bulb.

The falling paths will never screw you over. Don't worry about getting dumped way at the beginning or anything like that.



Phase 1: There's a branching path on floor 4N. You need to go to 4S to get the Roc's Spear, then come back and go to floor 5N to reach phase 2.
Phase 2: There's a branching path on floor 1C (right where you start the phase!). You need to go to floor 1W1 to get the Sharp Claws, then come back and go to floor 1E to reach phase 3.
Phase 3: There's a branching path on floor 4C (right where you start the phase!). You can go to floor 4W to get the life potion, but it's optional. If you do get it, you'll go back to floor 4C so you can go from there to floor 4W and head to the boss.
You can also take this opportunity go and hit floor 4S (phase 1) to get the chest you couldn't before, and then use the nearby climbable wall in floor 4SW (phase 1) as a shortcut back to phase 3. The climbable wall takes you to floor 5 (phase 2), which is two rooms away from falling path 3.

If you backtrack to floor 4SW (phase 1), there's a climbable wall that takes you to floor 5 (phase 2).



Each of the three phases is cleanly separated on your initial trip through by a falling path. In Evegreen Cavern, you had two instances of backtracking over old content to reach new content, and both times, it was a vertical trip. Here, backtracking is lateral. Also, instead of backtracking multiple times in the same space, you only backtrack once per phase, assuming you don't get the optional M. bulb from floor 4 (phase 2). Evegreen layered its backtracking, while Grecliff separates it.

It's interesting that the final backtrack is optional both in Evegreen and Grecliff, but for different reasons. In Evegreen, the final backtrack might not be a backtrack because you didn't go through the room with the boss door the first time. In Grecliff, the final backtrack is optional because you just never need to go through that space.



Floor 1W

Outside.

Floor 1E

1 stone golem.
1 stone golem and 1 periton.
A series of stone ledges to jump up northward, with 1 stone golem at the top of them.

Floor 2W

1 stone golem.
A simple block pushing puzzle: just walk into the blocks. It is possible to screw yourself by pushing the first block west then south, but you absolutely have to start by pushing it west, and if you keep pushing it west, you're fine. This is the first required block pushing puzzle in the game.
That sets you up to push the second block south, but look out! It's really an enemy. It's a little devious that you can't see the stones to grab them--you just have to push up against that rock until nothing happens and say, "well, I guess I better try pressing the A button, because that's the button I use to interact with things." Anyway, that's 1 more stone golem.
Exit south to floor 2B.

Floor 2S

2 mudmen.
1 door on the west to floor 2W.
1 vine up to floor 2C. Beside that is a climbable trail upward to floor 3 alt alt, but even if you have the Sharp Claws, you can't get to it from this spot. You have to come down from above!
1 door on the east to floor 2E.

Floor 2C

A strength potion. Bisects floor 2W from floor 2E.

Floor 2E

2 stone golems.
Exit north to floor 3.

Floor 3

2 peritons.
1 periton.
Tease a chest in the southeast corner. This is in floor 3 (phase 3 inside).
Exit northwest to floor 4N.

Floor 4N

1 stone golem and 1 quaker.
1 stone golem.
1 exit north to floor 5N.
1 exit south to floor 4S.

Floor 4S

1 exit on the far east to floor 5 (to Roc's Spear).
1 climbable wall in the middle east. Up it is 1 M. bulb and 1 mudman.
1 exit west to floor 4SW.

Floor 4SW

Climbable wall to floor 5 (phase 2).
Use this room as a shortcut back to phase 3 if you backtrack to floor 4S to pick up that teased chest after you get the Sharp Claws.

Floor 5 (to Roc's Spear)

1 quaker and 1 stone golem.
1 exit north to floor 6 (Roc's Spear).

Floor 6 (Roc's Spear)

2 disguised stone golems. (Only need to wake up one of them to reach the chest with the Roc's Spear!)
1 Roc's Spear.

Floor 5N

A pretty wide bottomless pit. You can jump it! (There's another pit with 1 periton to the east, but it's pointless.)
2 peritons and 1 quaker.
Another pit to jump.
Exit south to floor 5S.

Floor 5S

Exit east to floor 5E.
Tease on the west to a chest (floor 4S, up the climbable wall).

Floor 5E

Magirock in the northeast corner.
Climb up to to floor 7 (outside east) in the northeast corner.

Floor 7 (Outside East)

Enter the door northward to floor 7 (inside).

Floor 7 (Inside)

You need the Roc's Spear to kill four boulders in this room. Head westward and exit south to floor 7 (outside west 1).

Floor 7 (Outside West 1)

1 periton and 1 mudman.
Jump up ledges northward. Pass by 1 periton and then 1 periton as you continue northward.
Exit at the north heading westward.

Floor 7 (Outside West 2)

Head down ledges to the south, fighting 5 individual borfes as you go.
Head down the south vine to find 1 magirock and 2 mudmen.
Head down the north vine to take falling path 1.

Falling Path 1

Strict west: A chest (1 S. bulb) and falling path 2.
West, then east: floor 1C (phase 2).
Dead center: The bottom half of floor 7 (outside west 2).
It looks like there are more paths, but that's really all you can do!

Falling Path 2

Leads to floor 1C (phase 2), no buts about it.




Floor 1C

1 exit east to floor 1E.
1 exit west to floor 1W1.
1 mudman.

Floor 1W1

Head west to floor 1W2.

Floor 1W2

Climbable wall on the far west. This leads to floor 2S, but you can't take it yet, since you don't have the Sharp Claws.
Exit north to floor 1W (inside).

Floor 1W (Inside)

7 mini quakers. (You get nothing special for killing all of them.)
1 magirock in the northwest.
1 exit in the northeast to floor 2N.

Floor 2N

1 collapsing bridge, followed by a quaker.
1 collapsing bridge, followed by a quaker.
1 collapsing bridge, followed by a quaker.
1 collapsing bridge, followed by a quaker.
1 collapsing bridge, followed by a quaker.
The bridges collapse when quakers quake.
Fall in the hole to go back to floor 1W (inside).
That island in the middle east of the room has nothing on it. It's just scenery. Don't try to jump to it.

Floor 2S

5 peritons once you jump up ledges towards the Sharp Claws. (The fifth one is hidden off to the west.)
Jump up ledges, Sharp Claws in nest.
Path downward to floor 1W2. (Use this to backtrack to floor 1C, then go to floor 1E, after you've gotten the Sharp Claws.)
Path upward, 1 periton, to 1 M. bulb.

Floor 1E

This is the room where you get roadblocked if you don't have the Sharp Claws.
1 mudman.
1 climbable wall and 1 mudman.
Up the climbable wall: entrance north to floor 5 and east to floor 4SW (phase 1).

Floor 5

1 quaker and 1 periton.
1 periton.
Exit north to floor 6N.

Floor 6N

1 quaker and 2 peritons.
Exit south to floor 6S.

Floor 6S

South to falling path 3.
Up and north to 2 borfes. From there, north to 2 borfes and 87 gems, west to 1 borfes and 1 magirock.

Falling Path 3

East to a magirock, west to skip it. Both lead to floor 4C.




Floor 4C

3 borfes.
Exit east to floor 4E.
Exit west to floor 4W.

Floor 4W

Vine down to floor 3 (outside).
1 borfes.

Floor 3 (Outside)

2 exits on the far west.
Exit north to floor 3 (inside).
Exit down to floor 2S (phase 1). Here's your chance to check out the climbable wall on floor 4S (phase 1), but it's just an M. bulb, so don't bother.

Floor 3 (Inside)

Remember that teased chest from floor 3 (phase 1)? Woot! It's a life potion.

Floor 4E

2 mudmen.
Vine up to a climbable wall up to a dead end.
A series of climbable walls up to the boss.
