Stage 6: The Moon

The second Parodius game for SNES. This shmup series is a riff on Konami's famed Gradius series and features silly environments with outlandish characters.

Stage 6: The Moon

I did this stage on one life tonight! Wooh.

Outside, there's a ton of stuff going on. They really abuse those enemy spawners in this stage.

Inside, you tango with giant mallets. I have yet to totally get their rhythm, but I'm getting better at it. Come to think of it, they remind me of the solar flares from the first stage in Gradius II. I went and gave that game a try recently, it's pretty tame/sane, at least at the beginning.

The mallets aren't what make it hard, though--you're just swamped with enemies. It's like they finished this level and THEN added a gimmick.

Aaaand the stage boss reminds me of the first boss from Paranoia for some reason. I'm not entirely sure why, it's been a long time since I've given that one a go.

I think this is the Goemon stage.

Gradius II carts aren't expensive, but they're not cheap. Can we get it on Virtual Console?
